Up to 30.9% of business owners in China arewomen, which gives the country eighth rank globally, according to the inaugural Mastercard Index ofWomen Entrepreneurs.

The index showed that 60.1% of female business owners in China are pursuing opportunity-driven entrepreneurship, compared with 39.9% for necessity-driven entrepreneurship due tothe lack of employment opportunities.

该指数显示， 60.1%的中国女性企业家追求"机会型创业"，而因缺乏就业机会而进行"生存型创业"的占39.9%。

Their pursuit of success and independence, and their desire for recognition, are driven andsupported by the strong cultural acceptance of women entrepreneurs in the country and ahigh level of financial inclusion, it said.

该指数称，中国对女性创业者较高的文化接受度及较高的普惠金融水平，在她们追求成功、独立和社会认可的过程中起到了推动和支持的作用。
